Back-office event conversation resume
The moment your back office says yes, the agent reopens the conversation: your application is approved, here is the next step.
What it does
Plenty of journeys pause on an asynchronous back-office step: an eligibility review, a human verification, an approval decision. The customer waits, attention drifts, and by the time a notification email lands days later the momentum is gone. The agent listens for the completion event and reopens the conversation the moment the decision arrives — with the good news, the context of where the customer left off, and the next step ready — so the journey continues while the customer still cares.
How it works
- 1Trigger. a back-office system fires a webhook when the async step completes —
application_approved,verification_passed,eligibility_confirmed. - 2Decision. the agent matches the event to the paused conversation and the customer's place in the journey, recalls what was discussed and what was left open, and checks consent and channel preferences. The resume message passes a quality judge before it goes out.
- 3Action. a push, chat, or email message that continues the same thread rather than starting a cold one: the decision, plus the concrete next step — book the consultation, fund the account, sign the agreement.
- 4Follow-through. if the decision needs something from the customer (a missing document, a clarification), the agent explains exactly what and how; replies continue the journey in chat; outcomes write back to the client's systems; and if the customer already completed the step on their own, the stale message is cancelled before it sends.

Metrics it moves
- application-completionup, because approvals stop stranding customers between systems.
- activation-rateup, the journey resumes at the decisive step instead of restarting from a cold email.
- conversion-rateup, approved customers convert while the intent that got them approved is still warm.
